La luce pulsata ad alta intensità (dall’inglese Intense Pulsed Light – IPL) è un’apparecchiatura elettronica comunemente utilizzata per praticare trattamenti di fotodepilazione. Questo tipo di tecnologia ha iniziato il suo sviluppo dalla fine degli anni ’90 ed è l’evoluzione del laser, da tempo impiegato a tale scopo.

Il vantaggio di questo tipo di tecnologia rispetto al laser sta nel fatto che essa consente di trattare aree più ampie, con maggiore sicurezza, versatilità e velocità di esecuzione. La luce pulsata è costituita da un accumulatore energetico e una speciale lampada allo xeno, e di un’apposita ottica, in grado di generare un fascio di luce molto intenso che illumina la zona da trattare. L’erogazione della luce non è continua ma avviene attraverso brevissimi impulsi. Uno specifico filtro ottico, eventualmente intercambiabile, previene ogni possibile danneggiamento della pelle da parte di raggi UV.
